In case you missed the NPR report a few weeks ago about how some Americans are contemplating our political, socio-economic, environmental crisis – wonder no more – because there are some heavy duty conversations taking place – not across the aisle but over the fence, during these life defining moments – over plastic geese that you can purchase online, dress them up and display on your porch to cheer up your neighborhood. Because nothing says “whimsy” like a bird in a bikini.
Evidently, it’s really catching on and it’s creating more good will amongst neighbors. One neighbor gifted a polka dot bathing suit and heart-shaped sunglasses for their friend’s bird. A good time was had by all as they welcomed the relief from such a pesky, serious world.
Though if they want more geese, and who wouldn’t, they better stock up because the ones made in China may not make it over here at the same bargain rates they’re accustomed to - and when Janie or Janie’s husband lose their jobs and nest egg, because of the government tear-downs, layoffs, agency-free floods and fires, and/or their own irrelevance brought on by AI and their propensity for silly plastic birds, they can take heart that they’ve provided a bird bath of levity and that a new fad to take the place of anything resembling a thoughtful conversation can be quickly purchased online. And don’t worry about the pesky landfills filled with plastic porch-a-geese, they’ll all be flown south to Staten Island where they will be given a proper burial.
